The Network Engineer is responsible for delivering enterprise-level IT support to our customers. This includes implementing, supporting and maintaining the network infrastructure for our hosted customers’ environments in cloud and colo data centers as well as remote management of network resources for our Managed Services customers. The successful candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently to research and resolve issues with little assistance.
-Maintain and support customer Local Area (LAN) and Wide Area (WAN) networks including those within data centers and connectivity to public cloud environments.
-Maximize network reliability by monitoring logs, evaluating network connectivity requests, scheduling upgrades, and performing analysis to identify issues before they impact service.
-Update network diagrams, documentation, policies, and procedures as needed.
-Exhibit an innovative mindset by suggesting improvements to enhance reliability and availability of the network infrastructure.
-Script, automate and orchestrate provisioning and maintenance processes using DevOps tools and technologies.
-Work on and complete client requests for assistance with hosted or managed resources.
-Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by monitoring systems and submitted through the ticketing system. Fully document issues, actions taken, and steps for resolution.
-Initiate escalation process working with other teams, partners, and vendors as appropriate while communicating progress and resolution to clients.
-Work with other teams to improve problem resolution rates and minimize escalations.
-Create and update knowledge documentation to assist in the training and development of employees.
-Focus on continued professional development to maintain knowledge and application of current industry best practices, networking concepts and to incorporate new technologies to services.
-Cooperate with other employees to create a trusting, honest, and productive work team.
-Perform other technical tasks as defined, planned, and approved by leadership.
-Demonstrated experience supporting network related technologies including enterprise LANs, WANs, WLANs, routers, firewalls, switches, VPN, network load balancers, and wireless access points.
-Demonstrated experience with server-based networking technologies, either physical or virtual (routing, VPN, DNS, RADIUS, DHCP, etc.)
-Knowledge of server and network interaction, specifically TCP/UDP ports, sessions and network services.
-Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS.
-Knowledge of data encryption, IDS/IPS, and anti-virus software preferred.
-Ability to communicate highly technical information to clients in non-technical language.
-Hands-on experience with configuration management and automation technology such as Chef, Ansible, Azure Automation, and PowerShell.
-Operational understanding of regulatory compliance, including, but not limited to: HIPAA, HI-TECH, and PCI-DSS.
-Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA or JNCP preferred.
-Bachelor’s degree in IT field or equivalent experience with 3+ years of experience in IT.
-Participate in rotation of a 24/7 on-call system and occasional off-hours work is needed.
-Flexibility of schedule is required to meet the demands of the position.
-Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
-Occasional travel may be required.
