Equipment Technician Supervisor

The Equipment Technician Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to day shift technician operation members. Other responsibilities include:

  • Support and provide technical guidance to further enhance the efficient use of reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure uptime, production volume and quality goals are met
  • Establish innovative, cost-effective, and proactive methods to serve customers and meet company goals
  • Oversee set-ups to reduce change times
  • Ensuring all quality standards and production procedures are followed
  • Ensure the safety of all associates by identifying safety issues and taking measures to proactively address; role model safe work practices, lead safety and company initiatives
  • Actively lead and develop the technician staff members to ensure effective communication and support across and between shifts and with production department teams
  • Effectively utilize resources to maximize team technical skills, capability and efficiency to meet or exceed production objectives
  • Utilize computer-based programs to support effective communication, prioritize maintenance requests, manage maintenance inventory, and delegate maintenance resources
  • Support the utilization of the Foundation system for all job orders and production recordkeeping
  • Maintain weekly/monthly production reports within department
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal environmental, safety, and health regulations
  • Communicate effectively with managers and supervisors in other facilities; providing input and utilizing others’ ideas to reach or exceed planned profit margins
  • Monitor staffing coverage and support requirements, lead team meetings, lead tech operations Lean 5/S continual improvement initiatives, facilitate training and apprenticeship program
  • Meet department measurement goals including waste reduction, billable hours, utilization improvement, spoilage, and rework
  • Lead team members by proactively resolving employee issues, building team work, cross functional skills and ensuring adherence to all applicable company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
  • Identify and address opportunities to improve quality and reduce rework
  • Raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set
  • Coordinate activities with Technician Operations Manager and production team to maximize productivity and minimize cost, reduce waste and taking measures to proactively address all concerns

Minimum Experience/Education Requirements:

  • 5-7 years manufacturing/production experience with 2+ years proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing capacity.
  • High school graduate or equivalent; degree in manufacturing field or business a plus
  • Basic MS Word and Excel skills; Foundation experience a plus
  • Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training a plus
  • Lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, and stoop for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to be flexible to work additional hours as necessary
  • Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.
